1905
In 1905, Herman Jansen began making and selling football boots in Hengelo (Gelderland). The boots were assembled in the attic room of his home. The whole family helped out to cut the patterns, glue and stitch. In the same year the founder opened his first shop in Hengelo. Six pairs of boots in the shop window set among no fewer than 150 empty boxes.

On the eve of WWI leather was hard to get and so was labour. The Jansen family had to work hard to keep the business running, with only the repair shop open in order to survive these difficult times.

Bep van Klaveren (1907 – 1992) Grew up in Rotterdam, where he learned to use his fists early on. During a long career, the little man who stood just 1.64m tall would grow to become a phenomenon, a living legend. Throughout his career Bep boxed on our boots which, as a tribute to this legendary athlete, where relaunched in 2002.

The Olympic Games came to the Netherlands, Amsterdam. Providing
the official running shoe, which we re-introduced in our 2003 spring/summer collection and named Olympic ‘28.
1934
During the 30’s we were the first football boot brand in the World to bring out studs with iron rings. This invention meant that the studs, which in those days consisted of successive layers of pressed leather, held together longer such improving durability.

The famous Captain model kept us in the lead over many decades. Besides the usual optimal quality and fit, De Captain was sought after for its width, its soft top quality leather and its design.
1941
Rotterdam’s Servaas ‘Faas’ Wilkes was Holland’s First real international football star. He was "THE" boyhood hero and for years he led the top scorers’ chart for the Dutch national side with thirty-five goals.

Immediately after WWII production was restarted of leather football boots. Demand rose and the factory was relocated. Production was increased to 1600 pairs a week. In this year the founder Herman Jansen retired at 75 and left a sound company to his four sons.

Coen Moulijn was the darling of “The Legion”, as the Feyenoord supporters are known. Coen played professional football for eighteen years.

Advertising campaigns were launched first time in the 6-ties. The factory by then produced a wide range of both men’s and ladies’ shoes, from soccer to hockey, from cycling to ice skating.
1961
Sjoukje Dijkstra was the best figure skater in the world during the early 6-ties. Double Salchows, double Axels or a double Lutz with a double loop all on our skating boots.

Celebrating our sixtieth anniversary. Commercial spirit and hard work had seen the factory through difficult periods and war. The distinctive block stripes soon turned every new shoe into a unique piece of work that was hard to imitate.
1965
We introduced Europe’s lightest football boot, the Supercup. Supercup S, Starfighter and Typhoon were top of the range and resulted from 65 years of hard work and craftsmanship.

On 6 May 1970 Feyenoord makes history by becoming the First Dutch side to win the European Cup. In the final in Milan, with 5300 of their fans in the stands of the San Siro, the rotterdammers proved too strong a team for Celtic. Half of Feyenoord's selection wore our boots.

The 70s and 80s saw the introduction of the Topstar. The Topstar easily found its place besides our other great soccer boots. The Topstar was the first all-black soccer boot with optimal touch and superb fit and a widely acclaimed cushioning ankle support. Some players stated soccer would never be the same after the Topstar.
